This should be my last week in CIAT. Time flies by and now i am in the process of finishing up my associates in Computer Information System with CIAT. My next goal would be to get my bachelors and that is why i am in talks with the counselors over at Devry University so that i could continue my education with them since CIAT won’t have the bachelors program till next year. I feel that i learned many things throughout my time here at CIAT because of the amazing instructors that i had over the two years that i had been here. Overall, i hope that this would help me get ready for the future.

What i want to talk about today are the prices of the “premium” phones. It seems that every year there is a large price hike with smartphones and this made me wonder, is it really worth it to buy such thousand dollar phones? Sure we could say that they get better each year but now, it is becoming unaffordable and i do not think the price increase is worth it. I think it is time for us to be aware of what we are buying because at this rate, the companies such as apple, samsung, and more are raking in money for just a few upgrades on their new smartphones.

Today I want to talk about tablets and if it can replace the laptops we use today. Let me start with the positive things about using a tablet. They are much more portable than laptops and can be carried around anywhere, touchscreen capability is amazing, they are much enhanced when it comes to connectivity, and battery life is great. My side on this debate is, it would not replace the laptops as of right now but it will be in the future to come because many add-ons such as detachable keyboards and stylus are now being implemented and because of this, I think it will be a lot better than laptops.

I will probably get a lot of hate for saying this but personally, i think that IOS is a much better system. I’ve owned iphones and Android phones, mainly samsung, and it seems that Apple’s iphones are much more well-built because they have a good ecosystem that integrates with all their other devices such as Macbooks to airpods much better than what the android ecosystem can provide. But people have different wants and needs and that is why many people prefer android phones.

My recent travel this year, in early January, in Japan helped me discover variety of food that i come to love. Curry is one of those food that i do not enjoy eating because of the spiciness but after trying out a curry place called Coco in Japan, i instantly fell in love with it. It is a different experience from the regular curry that i know of and it is quite hard to put it in words but hopefully a picture that i took will help convey what i felt when i saw it.

Adobo derived from the Spanish word “adobar” which means to marinate. The first recorded existence of adobo in the Philippines is from 1613, when the Spaniards came to the Philippines. A food historian named, Raymond Sokolov, insisted that ingredients for adobo already existed in the Philippines way before Ferdinand Magellan, first European to reach the Philippines, came to the Philippines. It is believed that Filipino developed lots of methods for preserving food since they live in a warm climate, and to keep their food fresh, they used vinegar and salt thus they created adobo.

What is adobo?

Adobo is a cooking technique and there are endless variations of cooking adobo. It is considered, unofficially, as the national dish of the Philippines. It is a huge part of Filipino culture and every Filipino household have their own version of adobo. Adobo is served rice both at daily meals and at feasts and it is very popular packed for Filipino mountaineers and travelers because it keeps well without refrigeration. It has a long shelf-life due to one of its primary ingredients which is vinegar because it inhibits the growth of bacteria.

A tip I have when you want to save money when you travel to different places around the world is to search up plane tickets ahead of time and know what months are the best months for cheap flights. Booking at least a month or two ahead of time could save you a lot more money compared to when you are booking just weeks ahead this is especially true for international flights. Another way to save money is opting for hotel alternatives like Airbnb. There’s a lot more ways to save money but those tips should be on top of your list.

The Coronavirus has already spread to over 40 countries around the world affecting markets and disrupting travels. The question now is, what should we be doing as of now to try and combat the pending epidemic? What I think that we must do is to stock up supple for N95 mask and limit exposure to other people as much as possible. What are your thoughts about the Coronavirus?

This week i got my permit for motorcycle. Now, the fun part begins which is learning how to ride a motorcycle. Truth be told, the only experience i have with a motorcycle is watching them fly by the street and in the freeway with my eyes ogling at them with jealousy. I am a bit scared to ride it but after today, once i got on it, it was the greatest experience i have ever had in a while. I am able to practice in my street just with the first gear and i am still trying to learn how to shift through the gears.

A hobby that i truly enjoy is reading light novels about adventures with magic. I always picture myself as the protagonist of a light novel that i read and i go on exploring the world using magics and swords, fighting dangerous creatures and saving the population the best way possible. This helps broaden my imagination and helps me think critically.
